Sabrina Vlaškalić Legacy Guitar Competition for Youth

25th and 26th of February

We are excited to introduce a new addition for youth at our guitar festival.

Our goal is to provide a platform for nurturing and celebrating the next generation of classical guitarists. Central to the youth festival is the Sabrina Vlaškalić Legacy Guitar Competition for Youth. Participants will have the opportunity to receive valuable feedback from the jury, attend masterclasses, and participate in coached chamber music ensembles. Additionally, they will have access to all concerts and events at the Groningen Guitar Festival.

In memory of Sabrina Vlaškalić

We are proud to name this competition in honor of Sabrina Vlaškalić, a truly remarkable human being and classical guitarist who founded the Dutch Guitar Foundation. Her unwavering passion for music profoundly impacted many lives, both through her concert career and as a dedicated teacher at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen. She was a young prodigy herself and had huge success from a very early age.

Her passing in 2019 created a significant void in the guitar community. Although Sabrina was taken from us far too soon, she left an everlasting mark. Through this competition, we aim to celebrate her rich legacy. We hope to inspire young guitarists, just as she did throughout her extraordinary life.
